We endeavor to shape the future of our youth by preserving traditions, seeking new knowledge, and broadening their cultural horizons.

To become the recognized cultural hub and authority for Maryland, Washington DC, other City’s urban areas, and the surrounding region for cultural enrichment through performing arts while being widely renowned for excellence in academic support, mentoring, creative programming, education, collaboration, responsiveness, leadership development of the arts, and as a center for professional and emerging talent.

Our vision for Educational & Mentoring includes these elements through music:

1. Youth and young adults empowered and actively engaged in learning in learning environments that are collaborative and cooperative
2. Increased confidence, achievement, and career aspirations by youth and young adult mentors
3. Business and community members taking responsibility for our youth and the college students who are part of our community — by investing the time, care, guidance, and love that they all deserve
4. Programs and clubs where all teach, all learn, and all interact in long-term, mutually respectful relationships across boundaries of age, race, and class

Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Committee is the representative voice of the programs of Life, Through Music.
Its purpose is to listen to the concerns and suggestions of members and to help make participation in LTM programs a more enjoyable and rewarding experience.
The committee meets once a month with a parent advisor who reports back to the Board of Directors as the committee's messenger. Thus, an opportunity for open communication between the programs and the Board is provided, and the Board receives information that helps it to run the LTM programs in a way that will ensure a positive life experience for all members.
Members of the Youth Committee are elected by the band in October.
