OUR PROGRAMS

PROGRAMS

Life, Through Music students can find instruction on nearly every instrument and voice. Regardless of your age or prior musical experience, at LTM you will find a program of instruction including IEP/504 plans to meet your personal and learning needs. In addition to private lessons, our programs of instruction include violin, viola, cello and piano, music programs for young children, instrumental ensembles, a variety of after school and weekend music enrichment classes, and summer camp programs.

Many of our youth/teens struggle to overcome a historical underinvestment in public education, limited access to living wage jobs, lack of planning and programing for students with IEP/504 and an epidemic of mass incarceration. LTM is committed to addressing these persistent inequities by connecting young people to the opportunities, relationships, plans and resources they need to thrive and achieve their potential through music.

LTM is founded on the principle of caring for one another. The strength of our work is grounded in our ability to build strong relationships with young people through music. We prioritize one-on-one relationships and individualized supportive services across all our programs. Together, we can empower young people to improve their lives and the lives of others through music.

LTM AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Life, Through Music will provide free after-school, Saturday and summer programs in schools and community centers across Baltimore.

Our areas of expertise range from choir, brass, woodwind, strings, and percussion ensembles. Our program delivery goals are to:

​

  • Provide extracurricular lessons and activities that improve students’ socio-emotional capacity through music.

  • Integrate youth with families, communities, employers, mentors, and other nourishing resources that provide an ecosystem of support.

  • Provide enriching activities that reduce the likelihood of youth (re)committing, or being victims of crimes.

  • Improve high school graduation rates among our students.

  • Develop our students’ musical and academic aptitude to increase their college scholarship opportunities

  • Create meaningful career pathways through music.

All of these our goals are driven by the overwhelming evidence that music education has a unique and powerful impact on students.

LTM SUMMER ENRICHMENT CAMPS

The LTM Summer Enrichment Music camp is a six-seven-week program that offers young people a variety of arts exploration. Monday through Friday, participants engage in academic support, music instruction, life skills, and much more.

In accordance with their age, students can continue to develop and master new skills in the fields of Instrumental Music, and Vocal Music,.
